Beautiful vintage Mexican turquoise silver overlay decorative stamped butterfly brooch. The silversmith has created the butterfly by cutting out a solid base and overlaying a second sheet with decorative cut outs. The base sheet has been oxidized so as to highlight the decorative cut out decoration of the second sheet. The artist has then applied decorative stampwork and cut out the butterfly shape while also adding molten silver used as the butterflies body. Attaching the locking pin clasp on back, shaping the angles of the wings, and installing the antennae and turquoise stones.

The butterfly measures 1 7/8” by 1 15/16” across and weighs 7 grams. It’s hallmarked TAXCO MEXICO 925 encircling PMH along with MEXICO underneath. This is a fairly old piece dating back to 30’s-50’s era. Beautiful handmade butterfly brooch! $128.95
