Vintage 30’s-40’s Mexican turquoise hand wrought coin silver storyteller brooch-pin. The silversmith has obviously melted down silver coins and hand wrought the silver as needed to create this unique brooch. It displays a mexican male with his donkey in the desert. The artist has included a stick cactus in front of the detail man in a sombrero using a turquoise handled walking stick. Behind the man is a burro with a supplies pack on it’s back. The artist has added a twisted silver rope as the reins and stamped clumps of grass across the bottom platform. The artist finishes by attaching an old styled safety pin and clasp on the back.

The brooch measures 1 3/8” tall by 2” across and weighs 10.6 grams. The piece is hallmarked PLATA =900= ANTON by Taxco silversmith Jose Anton. PLATA means Silver in spanish and 900 would be the coin silver rating. It could easily be older than 1930’s since it doesn’t show signs of the Mexican government control of the raw silver. Beautiful and very old Mexican silver brooch! $119.95
