Beautiful vintage 70’s-80’s Navajo turquoise and coral chip inlay Thunderbird/Eagle decorated bolo tie. The silversmith has started with a base silver plate and overlaid a wing stretched Thunderbird in the center along with lightning bolts and filling the open wings and tail with coral chips to include the “heart” set in the bird’s body. The artist has framed around the outer rim with decorative stamped silver and filled in with turquoise chips around the bird up to the overlaid silver frame. The artist has applied sunrise stamping flanked with crescent moons at each of the four directional paths. The silversmith finishes the bolo pendant by attaching a BENNETT PAT.PEND. thumb locking bolo clasp. The original cord was dry rotted and some idiot glued the original end tips on so we included a new braided leather cord and new bead tipped end tips.

The Thunderbird bolo pendant measures 2 5/8” tall by 2” across tapering to 1 1/2” across the bottom. It’s connected to a 4-ply braided black leather cord that measures 44 1/2” long which includes the 2” long end tips. The complete bolo tie weighs 43.4 grams (1.53 oz) and is hallmarked JR by the artist. The setting show one turquoise chip missing and also a small coral chip, but it’s not so much noticeable and doesn’t take away from the complete bolo.
