Vintage southwest sterling silver Chief Bust crossed arrows adjustable ring. I tagged the title as Southwest since I can’t confirm a tribal affiliation. I’d place this ring back to the 40’s or earlier during the tourist rush to California. It appears to be hand cranked machine pressed ring with an attached three dimensional silver Chiefs Bust mounted to the face. The sides have been hand stamped to display a set of crossed arrows inside a wavy frame design. The crossed arrows are a symbol of friendship. The symbolized jewelry became very popular during the 30’s-40’s which has been tagged as the “Harvey Era”. Fred Harvey built numerous Hotels, Restaurants, and Gift Stores along the train routes mainly between Santa Fe to California at this time and would hire local natives to make jewelry and crafts to sell to the tourist trade. Actually, I’m still aware of a Harvey House on the south side at the Grand Canyon. I believe the hallmark represents one of the Harvey Gift Shops along the Santa Fe Express Train routes, but I cannot confirm.

The ring face measures 9/16” by 1/2” across and weighs 5.3 grams. It’s a size 6 as is and can be adjusted in or out to fit other finger sizes, It displays a hallmark of STERLING - H inside a Diamond with bird wing-feathers shooting off the side. As I stated above, I believe it’s an early mark for one of the Harvey Shops since the shooting wing is a symbol for the Santa Fe Express train line and obviously the “H” would stand for Harvey House. Collector’s ring in my opinion. $88.95
