Item 1080F- XLG Navajo Cerillos Turquoise Stamped Sunrise Sterling Silver Shadowbox Bolo Tie by John Larson
NEW! Wow! We commissioned a few items from Mr. Larson and this is one of them. An extra large heavy Cerrillos turquoise shadowbox one-of-a-kind collector’s bolo tie. John was telling me the large stone was from the Cerrillos Mine and that his father had gifted it to him. Well, John’s in his 70’s so God knows how long the stone has been out of the ground and polished. The Cerrillos Mine is known as the oldest turquoise mined in the United States territory (obviously not named then) dating back to the Anastasi era or before. Anyway, John created a square tooth cut solid bezel to hold the large stone in place. Mounted to a blackened oxidized silver base with a solid gauge sterling silver rimmed shadowbox around it. He’s applied repeating sunrise stampwork around the top lip of the shadowbox along with large sun rays and finished the decoration with wrapping the out rim with twisted wire. He continues by attaching a thumb locking bolo clasp on back. Finishing out the bolo tie he used a large 4-ply braided black leather cord with sterling silver fluted seamed bead end tips.
