Large vintage Navajo turquoise repousse’ sun concho belt buckle. The silversmith has created a very large concho and applied a repousse’ stamped full sunburst with a smooth silver bezel set oval turquoise stone in the center. The artist has applied a sunrise stamping at the tip of each repousse’ sunray along with a repeating tribal stamping around the edge that starts the raised repousse’ of the concho. The very outer scallop cut rim displays a repeating mix of small little full sun stamping and plant symbols with the scallop rim showing repeat sunrise and full moon stampwork. The artist finishes by attaching a swivel type belt clasp on the back with a solid set pin.

The large concho belt buckle measures 3” tall by 3 1/2” across and weighs 55.8 grams (1.97 oz or 1.79 ozt) and is unsigned sterling silver.. The belt buckle will accommodate a belt up to 1 9/16” wide. The turquoise appears to be non-stabilized Kingman turquoise. I believe this is a fairly old buckle based on no hallmark and natural turquoise, but it also appears to never been previously worn? Either way, it’s a very well made piece with balance and even stampwork! $399.95
