NEW! Navajo silver Koshare Clown with #8 Mine turquoise and Sleeping Beauty turquoise eyes. John has created the Koshare sporting the black and white striped suit by cutting out and overlaying along with decorative bead wire highlights and fancy decorated moccasins. The Koshare has shoulder length hair, a beaded headdress displaying three (3) oval cut and polished #8 Mine turquoise stones, and a double strand beaded necklace with decorative pendant. Finishing up the Koshare with two (2) bracelets, a rattle in one hand, and a flower in the other hand along with a fourth #8 Mine turquoise oval hanging between his legs. Mr. Larson has included a lot of detail in the Koshare. As we purchase more, each kachina will be somewhat different from the others (different necklace, bracelets, etc.). Attached to a 4-ply braided black leather cord with heavy decorated silver drum end tips. The Koshare has a clip added behind the center stone in headdress where you can remove the bolo cord and wear it as a pendant.

The Koshare measures 4 7/8” tall by 2 3/8” across the headdress. The 4-ply cord measures 50” long end to end which includes the 3 3/4” long fluted saucer bead/drum end tips. The complete bolo tie weighs in at a heavy 156 grams (5.50 oz or 5.02 ozt) and is hallmarked John Larson - Sterling by the Navajo silversmith. $2324.95

Koshare is a sacred clown of the Hopi, one that you’re likely to see at Katsina ceremonies. He is one of several clowns, which are sometimes called jesters or tricksters. He is a powerful figure and important to the community. A popular image of the clown is a man that has painted himself with wide horizontal stripes of black and white.
