Bold vintage 50’s-70’s Navajo Pilot Mountain turquoise decorated silver nuggets bolo tie. The silversmith has used a high quality cut and polished turquoise nugget from the Pilot Mountain Mine setting it into a sawtooth bezel wrapped with twisted wire. The artist continues to decorate around the stone with molten silver nuggets and attaches a BENNETT PAT.PEND. C 31 thumb locking bolo tie clasp. The artist also creates handmade thick gauge sterling silver end tips that display 10mm solid silver beads on the tips. The bolo setting and end tips were practically completely black with patina and the cord was dry rotted. We cleaned and included a new braided 4-ply cord. The Bennett c-31 Clasps first came into play in 1957 thru 1967. The left over stock ran into the early 1970’s. In 1967 the new clasps only read Bennett Pat. Pend. until 1983. (ref. The turquoise bolo setting measures 1 3/4” by 1 11/16” across. The new 4-ply braided black leather cord measures 43” long which includes the handmade 1 3/4” long end tips. The complete bolo tie weighs 46.3 grams (1.63 oz or 1.49 ozt) and is unsigned sterling silver.
