Item 1046Z- Vintage Lakota Anastasi Indian Silver Symbols Overlay Pendant
Nice silver overlay of ancient Anastasi symbols pendant. It centers on a horned deity (I would say a buffalo, but it’s standing on two legs). Also displays a raincloud, crops, and a deer that are familiar with me which break down to food (grain and meat), water, deer hide as clothing and shelter. I say the pendant is displaying Creators offerings to combine in ways of life from the Creator. All displayed on a handmade double oval pendant with silver overlay symbols. The artist finishes with a large silver bale. We bought as Lakota made? It’s definitely not Navajo, Zuni, or Hopi, but it is handmade.
The pendant measures 1 7/8” by 2 1/8” across. Including the bale stands 2 3/4” tall. The bale will accommodate up to a 1/2” diameter cord or chain. The pendant weighs 18.9 grams and has an unfamiliar hallmark. The silver also has a high content of copper causing it to display a yellowish hue. Similar to alpaca silver, so it may be Mexican made? $196.95
