Vintage Santo Domingo fifteen (15) piece bird fetish necklace. The artist has created fifteen fetish birds of different sizes using a solid piece of stone or shell on one side and multiple pieces of shells/stones on the other side of each bird. The artist has used turquoise, spiderweb turquoise, denim lapis, melon shell, white shell, brown shell, pipestone, orange and red spiny oyster, clear quartz, black jet, green (Orville Jack) gaspeite and a purple/white shell which is wampum shell. The necklace is strung on a coated twine and the artist has strung a 1” section of brown heishi shell with a small turquoise pebble included at the 1/2” point between each bird and the next bird. The artist adds two (2) extra twine strings at each end and braids them with the existing twine string that runs across the back neck. Pretty cool and colorful bird fetishes!

The necklace measures approximately 32 1/2” completely around with a wearable length of 16 1/4” measured down one side to the main focal bird. The birds measure between 3/4” long up to 1 1/8” long graduating in length from top to main focal bird. The necklace weighs 31.4 grams (1.11 oz or 1.01 ozt).
