Beautiful and colorful vintage 40's-50's Navajo plume agate bracelet. The silversmith has used a unique oval cut and polished plume agate stone and set it into a smooth silver bezel. The artist then encircles the stone with small scrolls which they hammered flat after attaching. All mounted to an oval silver base. They attached the stone setting to a very stout double half round wire cuff which has been soldered together at each end. The silversmith makes two (2) pieces of three-sided carinated wire and uses them as support braces, applying one on each side of the stone. The artist finishes by adding repeat snake stampwork on both of the cuff wires. The bracelet looks brand new now, but when we got it the silver was  black in areas from decades of patina - tarnish. I know some of the collector's prefer that the tarnish stay on the bracelets, but this was very uneven and made the cuff very unattractive.

The bracelet measures 1 5/8" wide at the setting with an inner circumference of 5 3/8" and a 1 1/4" opening. It will fit a 6 1/2" to 6 5/8" wrist as is and is very stout making it very hard to adjust. It weighs a healthy 50.4 grams (1.78 ounces or 1.62 troy ounces) and is unsigned coin or sterling silver (90% to 92.5% silver). Based on the way it tarnished, I would say it was made from silver coins. Very beautiful stone and very solid handmade bracelet!  $278.95
