Bold, heavy, vintage Navajo turquoise and onyx mosaic channel inlay bolo tie and belt buckle set. The silversmith Howard Begay (b.1953 to date) has built a matching set using what appears to be high end Kingman turquoise and black onyx all set in a mosaic styled channel inlay throughout the whole smooth silver oval setting of both the bolo and buckle. He has wrapped the outer rim of both pieces with smooth wire and has applied variances of repeat sunrise stampwork. (smaller sunrises on buckle). The artist finishes the belt buckle by attaching a swivel type belt clasp with solid belt catch. The bolo setting has a BENNETT PAT.PEND. thumb locking bolo clasp and is attached to a 4-ply braided leather cord. Mr. Begay finishes the bolo tie by creating inlaid turquoise and onyx end tips to match the setting.

The belt buckle measures 2 1/4” tall by 3” across and weighs 55.3 grams (1.95 oz or 1.78 ozt). The matching bolo setting measures 2 1/2” by 2” across with the cord measuring 42” long which includes the 3 1/4” long end tips. The stone inlay on the end tips measure 1” by 9/16” across. The complete bolo tie weighs 64.1 grams (2.26 oz or 2.06 ozt). Both pieces are hallmarked IHMSS - H.S.B. by the Navajo artist Howard S.
