Large vintage Navajo ten (10) piece "first phase" decoratively stamped concho belt. The silversmith has created ten (10) identical silver conchos using one as the buckle. Know as a "first phase" design which the silversmith solders a cross bar under the center opening of the concho and loops the belt through the bar. Newer concho belts normally have copper belt slides attached to the back to guide the belt through. The silversmith has followed early Navajo silversmithing using this style. Each concho sports repeating sunrise and full moon stampwork around the outer scallop cut rim. The artist has used two (2) belts with the wider belt focused on protecting the concho's from scratches and other possible damage.

Each concho (including the buckle) measures 2 1/8" tall by 3 1/8" across with the full belt measuring 32 1/2" long end to end. The wide guard belt is 2 1/4" wide with the other belt being 3/4" wide. As is will fit a 32" waist or smaller. A new belts would allow a larger waist. The complete belt weighs 375.7 grams (13.25 oz or 12.08 ozt) and is unsigned sterling silver. This is a really nice concho belt made with thick gauge silver (as told in the weight) and honoring the early elder's!  $1487.95
