NEW! Bold Navajo tufa cast double naja pendant! The silversmith has used the old traditional technic of tufa casting to create the pendant. The artist has carved a unique double naja into the volcanic rock and applied a solid wire hook on the back to use as a pendant. Tufa casting is similar to sand casting, but the artist uses native volcanic stone to carve the mold from. The volcanic rock is rather porous so that's why the finish pieces has that textured appearance. Volcanic rock is rather soft and brittle. The artist is doing good to get more than one pour from the cast. It usually will break after (sometimes before) the first molten pour. With that said, this piece is most likely one-of-a-kind. At best it's one of three.

The tufa cast double naja measures 2 7/8" by 2 1/4" across and weighs 41.5 grams (1.46 ounces or 1.33 troy ounces). It's stamped A - Sterling on the back by Navajo silversmith Anthony Bowman. Very nice piece and great example of Tufa casting!  $189.95
