Item # 508B - Vintage 60's-70's Zuni Collectors 3pc Ajax Turquoise Bead & Chain Necklace
Beautiful old vintage Zuni three piece Ajax turquoise bead and chain necklace! The necklace consists of three (3) hand made blackened scorched silver discs each framed with silver wire. The two (2) smaller discs have a single cut and polished pale green turquoise stones with blue veins running through the stone and brown matrix. The stone is set in a smooth bezel and wrapped with twisted wire. The artist decorated the disc with scrolls and silver drop on each side of the stone along with crescent moon wire across the top and bottom. The larger center disc is basically the same decoration, but it has two (2) stones and larger decoration. The necklace has forty (40) old style 8mm seamed beads which cover the area around the discs. It then is converted to a decorative hand made chain which has every other link crimped giving a similar appearance of a figure eight. The conversion from beads to chain displays a custom wrapped wire to connect the chains. The side discs measure 1 5/8" diameter with the larger disc measuring 2 1/4" by 2 1/16". The necklace measures 21 1/2" end to end with a wearable length of 12 3/8" long. It weighs 86.3 grams (3.04 ounces or 2.77 troy ounces). It is stamped with R underscored by Zuni artist Robert Leekya.
