Item # 460T - Vintage 70's Navajo Double Bear Claw Turquoise Coral Bolo

Beautiful vintage 70's Navajo double bear claw, turquoise, and coral bolo! Highly decorated with a large piece of branch coral set at top and a bulging polished light blue turquoise nugget with dark brown spiderweb matrix set towards the bottom. Both stones are set in hand cut saw toothed bezels. The artist adds two (2) real bear claws to either side of the turquoise nugget. The claw holders are decorated with repeating bear tracks stamping along with other stampwork. Between the claws and the coral the artist adds a flower bloom in center with a curving leaf to either side along with multiple scrolls and silver drops. Finishing the decoration with heavy gauge twisted wire wrapping around both bear claws. The large bolo setting measures 2 1/4" by 1 7/8" and is attached to the black braided leather cord with a BENNETT PAT.PEND. thumb locking clasp. The leather cord is very soft and measures 40" long which includes the 2 1/4" long sterling silver beaded end tips. The complete bolo weighs a healthy 39.2 grams (1.38 ounces) and is stamped F - STERLING by the Navajo silversmith. I've placed the bolo from the early 1970's whereas the Bennett patent expired in 1969. It could be older? Beautifully decorated bear claw bolo!  $247.95
