Item # 284X - Vintage Turquoise Peyote Bird Buckle

Nice vintage buckle! Made with a silver plate carefully hand hammered until it had a domed effect. Repeating stampwork completely runs around the border of the buckle with three silver overlays and a nice turquoise stone. The stone is set in a saw toothed bezel. The overlays consist of a leaf, peyote bird with inlaid turquoise and coral chips, and a flower bloom. The bird and flower have stamped lines around them symbolizing movement. The buckle measures 3 5/8" by 2 5/8" and weighs 39.3 grams (1.39 ounces). The back side has a solid silver belt holder and pin. It will accommodate a belt up to 1 3/4" wide. Unsigned coin silver or better, although it appears to be sterling. The holder and pin have been switched to the opposite side. I'm not sure the reason of doing this, but have noticed quite a few older buckles having this done. We bought this buckle as being from the 50's, but the chip inlay would place it during the 60's or 70's I believe. Other than the chip inlay, it definitely shows signs of being much older. Nice older buckle that doesn't show much if any previous wear. $89.95
