Large Malachite Bolo Item # 249R
Nice deep green malachite bolo necklace. The large stone itself measures 1 15/16" by 1 3/8" and is set in a smooth bezel wrapped with a ring of 4 mm solid silver beads. The complete pendant measures 2 1/4" by 1 3/4" and is mounted to a braided black leather cord with an old BENNETT PAT. PEND. thumb locking clasp. The leather cord measures approximately 38" long which also includes the 1 5/8" silver end tips. The complete bolo weighs 71 grams (2.50 ounces) and has MALACHITE - BISBEE BOB - 1980 etched on the back. This really has me curious? The malachite stone appears very old and the Bennett patent expired in 1969? The etched name and date could very possibly be the previous owner and he marked it when he bought it. If not for the etching on back I would place the bolo as being from the 50's or 60's. The stone has a slight nick, but doesn't take away from the beauty of the stone. $59.95
