Vintage 26 pc Mother of Pearl Squashblossom Necklace
Beautiful vintage mother of pearl squashblossom necklace! Very detailed with one hundred thirty four (134) sterling silver seamed beads. One hundred thirty 8mm beads and four 5-6mm beads. The necklace has ten (10) blossoms with each blossom consisting of two (2) mother of pearl cabs, five (5) circle stamped buttons, and a single leaf. The blossoms measure approximately 1 3/4" by 3/4". The large naja consists of six (6) mother of pearl cabs, two (2) large leaves, four (4) small leaves, fourteen (14) circle stamped buttons, and three (3) larger buttons with sunburst stamps. The naja measures 3" by 3". The complete necklace measures approximately 27" end to end and weighs 180.3 grams (6.36 ounces). The necklace is strung on metal wire with a hook-n-eye clasp. It appears to have a hallmark which looks like a rattlesnake tail. I noticed one blossom where two of the stamped circle buttons are off center. I don't believe it's a flaw, but actually a personal mark by the silversmith. That was a trait used in the early days where the artist would purposely "hallmark" their work The pictures show some of the mother of pearl cabs as bluish in color. That's only from the angle of the camera flash. all the cabs are consistently white along with the others. $487.95
